Magazine Adverts
Magazines have been an important way of reaching the public for a very long time. Research shows that people have a more positive attitude to advertising in magazine compared to any type of media as they trust magazines more than any type of music. In the UK alone there is over 2,800 magazine. This could be why artists chose to advertise in magazines as it is a good way to reach their target audience. After looking at many Magazine adverts for CD's I found that they always included the title of the album and the artist name to make the audience aware when they go to purchase it. In addition they often have reviews and star ratings by different publication their targer audience would like in order to attract them more. Also they usually have a image or picture of the artist or band for the audience to see what they represent

This is the magazine advertisement for Ellie Goulding's album 'Lights'. It shows the same image as the front of her album so that the audience will recognise the album going to purchase it. Underneath there are reviews given by recognised newspapers through the these reviews entice the audience to buy the whole album as her target audience are likely to read magazines such as G magazine. The fact that Ellie Goulding's face is the main focus of the advertisement implies that she is the singer and highlights her facial expression which connotes mystery and innocence appealing to a teenage or adult audience. The bright lights style writing connote show lights or hollywood lights which signifies that her music is of the pop genre

The colour of the magazine advert is mainly black and white making it seem gritty which reflects her style of music. This advert has lots of reviews underneath her and as when this album came out she is a new artist, it is a good selling technique to persuade the target audience to buy her album. The big font at the top of the page stands out and makeit easier to remember her name. The theme of the album comes across as love as she is holding herself while her eyes are closed which could imply self love. In addition that tattoos on her body are colourful therefore connoting creativity and Freedom.
